I just installed gretl 2017c under XP but found plotting did not work. It says that "d2d2.dll cannot be found." After googling, it seemed that this dll comes with direct2D and only works under win7 and higher with some MS's patches. It means that gretl does not support XP hereafter? Thanks Yi-Nung

scatters - limit to 16 items

Hi there, as with many of my requests/comments, this might be an odd one (or, very specific to what I am doing) and you may feel free to ignore it ;). I just encountered that the scatters command, via GUI and hansl, is limited to 16 time-series (a 4x4 layout). Most often that will be sufficient, but I actually wanted to take a few at 21 time-series this way. Anyway, a kind of "warning" msg that only the first 16 series are considered would be nice (or better even, a more flexible handling, allowing more than 16 series). Best Frederik

grab 'hurst' results in a script

Hi, a student alerted me to the fact that it currently seems impossible to save the output from the 'hurst' command into a variable for scripting use. The natural way would be a $-accessor I guess. In a meta ways this is related to feature request 101 (https://sourceforge.net/p/gretl/feature-requests/101/), which is about accessing the results from the vif command. thanks, sven

crash when trying Midas-compacting

Hi, attached is a monthly small dataset (with missings, if that matters). Trying to reduce the data frequency ("compacting") to quarterly in a Midas way ("separate series") gretl crashes every time. On Windows with snapshot Oct 3rd. Apart from that, a minor suggestion: In the data compacting window, the label "spread to separate series" (or similar, ad-hoc re-translated from German) might get an extra hint: "(Midas)". thanks, sven

Small/Serious(?) issu with MPI na MS Windows

The error code is: "DEADLOCK: attempting to send a message to the local process without a prior matching receiv". The problem is with sending an object (here: scalar) from root proces to itself. When we give 2 conditions: 1. we call foo() if $mpirank !=0, 2. we receive from all nodes except root, the code works. gretl bug: ordered probit model

Dear all, just by chance I've found a bug (at least realized using 4-day old git on ubuntu). When adding a lagged intercept to the ordered probit model, gretl gets captured in infinite computation (I would call this a 'crash'): <hansl> open ooballot -q smpl Status > 0 --restrict # works probit Vote 0 CPI # crashes (infinite computation) series const_1 = const(-1) probit Vote 0 const_1 CPI </hansl> Best, Artur

factorized Boxplot

I just found this rare boxplot in the attachment. 'end outfile' instead of 'outfile --close' ?

Hi, this is a trivial syntax question/request: Wouldn't it be natural to introduce 'end outfile', similar to all the other blocks with 'end'? (Perhaps also get some script indentation in the block, but that's a separate and maybe more controversial thing.) thanks, sven
