However, the change doesn't seem to be persistent -- I choose minor
version 12, save, close (the function package def. window), re-open, and
instead of 12 it says 2.
That's micro version (or patchlevel) 12; the "minor" is 9.
That was a bug in the GUI representation of a package's
version number (for micro version > 9), now fixed in CVS.
