Bug(?): Open a gretl console window and type something. Press shift+home,
cursor goes to the beginning of the line. From the start of the line press
shift+end: the whole line is selected. Ctrl+shift+arrows work as intended.

I confirm the same result with Ubunto.
Shift+home should select to beginning of line. Used a text editor to confirm
this.

This is to do with the point that if you press home in the gretl
console, you should NOT go to the beginning of the line (which is
a prompt, and cannot be typed over) but to the beginning of the
command entry area.
I'm unfamiliar with shift+{home,end}; I'll look into this. Not
being a Windows user, I tend to use the X selection to do anything
of this sort.

no, the point is that shift+home should select from the cursor to the
beginning of the line, instead it moves you to the beginning of the line not
selecting anything

My point is that it is necessary for gretl to intercept the "home"
key, in the context of the gretl console, and prevent it from
doing what it would usually do, otherwise you could delete or
overwrite the prompt. The unusual behavior of shift+home is just
a side-effect of that.
