Hi, shortly after a stable release is the best time for trivial changes, right? ;-) IMHO there are too many menu separator lines especially in the File and Model (first and last) menu. Groups don't make much sense if they tend to consist of only one member... What do others think? -Sven

I tend to agree. In CVS and a new Windows snapshot I've tried removing several of the separators. Let me know what you think. Allin.

I like it, but that's probably not surprising ;-) Some related remarks: * The "sort variables" entry is in Tools, shouldn't it be in Data? * why is the RNG seed entry a separate entry and not in preferences? * IMHO in the Add menu the separator before the Random variables entry could also go. * I think this was discussed before, but the last two entries in the Variable menu are duplicates of other entries elsewhere. cheers, Sven

Possibly; I'm not sure the case is compelling.

Personally I don't think this belongs under "Preferences". Doesn't it have a different (ad hoc) status?

Maybe so.

The "missing value" entry is not really a duplicate, as discussed before. Under the variable menu it sets the missing value code for the given variable, under the Sample menu it operates on the whole data set. As for the "new variable" item, IMO it is not a problem that this appears in more than one location. [Sorry, I'm on an occasional and not very reliable internet connection at present so I'm not able to respond fully to the various things that have come up.] Allin.
