I have no objection to moving to svn if a clear and reliable transition path
is available. At one point I thought that if we're changing maybe we should
go to git, but the advantage of svn is that
the commands are much the same as CVS, while with git you have to learn a
completely different paradigm and vocabulary.
By "clear and reliable transition path" I take it you mean "we don't
lose
stuff", including the history of commits. While from the user's point of
view the latest version is all that matters, I believe it is EXTREMELY
important to be able to track all the changes in the source for a number
of reasons. If we don't lose that, I'm ready to move to svn any time, if
necessary.
