Hi everybody:
We currently have 5 project proposals and having 5 proposals doesn't
mean that all of them will be found interesting to students. As you
can see here:
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Summer_of_Code/2009/Ideas
KDE, for instance, currently has 55 proposals but they will probably
end up having realized only a few of them.
As a result, it would be great if especially those who have
contributed code to Gretl in the past came up with an idea and
considered becoming a mentor. It would also be useful if you express
intention for being a substitute mentor for one or two of the proposed
projects.
I hope everybody thinks as I do that this is something useful for
Gretl, for the mentor, for the student, for everybody.
Cheers
Talha

Hi all:
I have prepared a Google Summer of Code 2009 ideas page in the Gretl
Wiki. Here is the direct link:

I hope Allin and Jack like the descriptions, especially for the first
3 proposals. Please feel free to add more ideas or expand on the
existing ones. Your comments are very welcome. Once all the developers
are happy with it, I am planning to annonce this in the Gretl users
mailing list as well.
Jack, you have mentioned earlier that Stefano Iacus from the R core
team was interested in the file filters library idea. Could you send
me his contact information, or get in touch with him to see if he
would be interested in becoming a co-mentor for this particular
project?
Cheer
