This is a string length problem. Here is the output of latest CVS (Linux),
LANG=pt:
get_gretl_charset: using UTF-8
Can't make compact model stats table -- the max
length translated string is 27 chars, should be < 23
[1]+ Segmentation fault gretl

If we force English, there is no error message.
