Those files are generally kept in sync with the gretl release, and I
think that's the case at present. It's assumed that if people install
snapshots they'll get PDF files that are up to date with the snapshot.
That's true. But then there still is the problem I described, namely that the
installed snapshot would have access to the current manual versions (in C:\Program
Files\gretl\doc), but it doesn't use them [...]
Ah, I'm guessing you've selected the A4-formatted PDF files, which are
not in the snapshot and would therefore have to be downloaded. Basis
for this guess: I just tried the current snapshot on Windows 11 and
saw a recent Guide PDF OK, with no download required. Maybe we should
just stick the A4 files into the snapshot as well as the US
Letter-size ones.
