I'm not. CRAN has a much larger offering, so it is very possible for a
perfectly good R package to go unnoticed. The proportion is about 25000
R packages vs 174 gretl packages. The difference comes of course from R
being much more popular, but also from CRAN being full of old,
unmantained and possibly malfunctioning packages.
That said, we've been mulling around the question "why isn't gretl more
popular?" forever, and I think that the answers are well established.
What has already changed in recent snapshots (so will be in gretl
2026c) is a new top-level menu called "Packages" for better visibility
of the contributed function packages. That could help a little with
your download numbers.
